Managing bookmarks with Delicious and Firefox

We've already covered online bookmarking but here is an intuitive way to manage all your bookmarks using a Delicious Firefox addon.
Note that, although this article is about a Firefox addon, Delicious have revealed that a new Internet Explorer addon is in the pipeline and may be available by the time you read this.
The addon is available here and was version 1.5.44 at the time of writing.
Installation is as easy as clicking the 'Add to Firefox' button and, of course, you need the Firefox browser already installed on your computer.

This addon replaces the existing Firefox bookmarks with one where the bookmarks are copied to Delicious so read the 'Terms of Service' and either log in to Delicious or create an account and wait while your existing bookmarks are imported.
We have to say that all this happened very slowly on our old machine so be prepared to allow it time to complete. When done you have all your Firefox bookmarks now merged with your Delicious bookmarks and available from the Left hand pane of Firefox. You can open this on a Windows system using the shortcut 'ctrl' and 'B' from the keyboard.
The addon also adds a new menu item called 'del.icio.us' which allows you to complete a variety of management tasks. So, you now have all your bookmarks available in one place and you can easily create and manage them from the toolbar. But wait because there's more!
In the course of a day we often have to use more than one machine and having bookmarks stored like this means that we can access all our bookmarks from any machine at any time. So using your bookmarks at work or vice versa is simple and this can be extremely useful.
To get the most out of this addon, go to the new del.icio.us menu item and choose ' 'How do I use this?' for a complete tour and tutorial which we recommend you do.
We used it over a week and found it useful to be able to get at bookmarks and also to arrange them and create favourites easily. If, like most of us, you make extensive use of bookmarks then we think this is well worth installing.
