Dabs must be considered a grandfather of online shopping being one of the first online stores to appear.  Selling a variety of computer and electronic goods, in April 2007 it made headlines when it was purchased by British Telecom.

On opening the main page, the design seems to have changed little over the years.  It has an untidy and overly complicated look with products and categories crammed into every available inch of space both in the centre and down each side.

However, as your eyes become accustomed to the clutter, you see that the offers and special items are in the centre column with categories along the left hand side as well as in the top navigation.  Along the right is the usual shopping basket with even more 'hot' offers running down that side, too.

Continue to the bottom of the page and you will find the details of delivery, privacy, promotions and other essential information.

Choosing a category from either the side or top menus

Choosing a category from either the side or top menus leads to a page that looks very similar to the main page with offers in the centre along with a filter (a way of further refining searches) that produces a list of products at the bottom.

Choose a category from the centre again and you go to a further, and similar, page containing more products along with further filters.  It is quite possible to continue using the filter to further refine searches for some time or you can give up and plough through the page of products at the bottom to find what you want.  Alternatively, and in our case, we used the search function at the top centre of the site.

The range of goods seems vast, as does the contents of the Clearance Section which speaks of a large store with a good turnover.  The goods are mainly computer based parts and peripherals with some software on offer along with mobile phones and similar items.

Dabs had an excellent reputation for efficiency and service but, as with all online stores, it is a good idea to search in your search engine for the name of the store and words 'customer service' to form a current opinion.
