A million Facebook friends!

Is it possible to have a million friends on Facebook or MySpace or any of the other sites?
OK, we were skeptical but we now agree, it's possible to have a million acquaintances - if you put your mind to it and work at it full time! But is it any use? Before you laugh think abut this.
Suppose you had a million friends. Suppose, too, you had a website you want to send people to? Or suppose you've got an Amazon affiliate program you want to make money from, a group you want to popularize or even something you want to sell? Now it starts to make sense. Suppose, too, you just want a million people to send you a £1 and a birthday card.
And just think, you have the contact details of a million people, as well as some personal information on them and, every day the friend requests pour in. In it's way it's an ad man's dream - all those personal details and each one (well most of them) relate to a real person. And you know, not just their names, but their age, their social background and much, much more.
OK, so maybe we're just too money orientated but think how cool it would be to have a million friends?
So, maybe we're just too money orientated but think how cool it would be to have a million friends? Your school friends, your work mates have got what? Maybe 250 friends? Maybe 350? You've got a million! How cool is that? Maybe it's worth it after all!
OK, so back to reality. Is it physically possible to get a million friends? We had a think about it and asked a few people and we think it's possible but we also think that very few people would have the dedication to achieve it.
And, researching this article, we didn't find anyone who already has a million friends - the best we could do is a girl from Australia who has a little over 200,000. That's a lot, almost a quarter of the way there. Imagine their profile pictures ten to a page - that's 20,000 pages! But it's a long way short of the magic million so perhaps it's harder than we thought.
Although lots of stories exist about the elusive million-friender, we regret we were unable to track one down. However, we did find lots of stories telling you what to do to get that number and hinting that, somewhere, such a person does exist.
We suspect, in reality, that no one has yet got that many friends mainly because the work involved is too great and social networking is, relatively, so new.
