Are there times when Ebay seems just a little too hectic and you long for a site where you can sit back and relax?

Cqout is an auction site along the lines of Ebay but which is smaller and more compact and, therefore, a whole lot quieter.

The first page is very uncluttered and easy on the eye with a list of auction categories along the left navigation area.  Auction pages then reveal a familiar format, the usual sub-categories giving you a list with a picture (if available) and good details of seller, price, bid, postage and end time so you can get a good idea of what's on offer.

From tabs at the top of the page it is possible to filter results

Selecting an item takes you to a more detailed page just for that item with good pictures and product information.  Clicking on a sellers name reveals a similar listing to Ebay with the sellers statistics.

From tabs at the top of the page it is possible to filter results to find 'new', 'ends today' or similar categories including one for 'no reserve'.  Pages loaded a little slowly on a four year old machine which is representative of the amount of data to be moved around to display them but the results were always there.

One thing that did strike me, as I checked through, was that a high proportion of sellers, at least on the day I looked, who were obviously professionals but the range and quality of the goods on offer was very acceptable with plenty of choice in all categories.

Registration looked fairly standard and uncomplicated and, of course, you need to register to sell or buy.

A search facility is provided if you want something specific rather than browsing and this worked well and efficiently, although a little slow, but trying the same search on a much more modern and faster machine produced an improvement.

Over 18 content is available but, usefully, full details and images are only shown to registered users who must first log in; all that is left for those not logged in is a simple and fairly short text description.

If you like auction sites (and who doesn't) then this is a nice, quiet and refreshing change from the bustle of Ebay and provides a good range of items in a nicely produced format that makes it well worth a visit.
