This website enables you to upload a photograph and then perform various editing tasks and ultimately save the resulting picture.  But there are already a variety of free or inexpensive photo editing tools available just for the download, so why would you want to use an online service?

One good reason, they suggest, is if you are working on a computer that is not your own, for example on holiday.  You can process your photos and email them straight away and not wait until you return.  And it's true that there are times when you have access to a different machine that make it worthwhile remembering this site.

Although you need to create an account to do anything meaningful

Although you need to create an account to do anything meaningful, you can try the service with a temporary account that lets you manipulate photographs for up to two hours.

In use, you upload the photo and, once there, you can do most of the things you would expect to do with a fairly comprehensive, high-end photo editing package.  That is, you can scale, crop, make colour and light adjustments and use a range of effects like removing noise, sharpening and adding other more special effects.  And, if that is not enough, there is a button that reveals several, even more, advanced tools.

In use, it handled the photographs successfully and quickly enough to make the whole process worthwhile and the overall impression was very good.  Using it felt like using a normal photo editing program and using the editing options gave the right sort of feel and feedback.

Certainly, for the times when you are away from your normal machine at an internet cafe, at work, or at a hotel, the site is very useful.  So perhaps this is one to check out, bookmark online and remember to use to spruce up and email those Summer Holiday snaps.
